Logan the Puppy

How do you get a puppy to walk? Make him walk in the rain. Mom and Dad made me walk in the rain last night. With it raining I didn't want to just sit around and get soaked so I HAD TO ACTUALLY WALK! I actually think Mom ordered the rain specifically to get me walking.

Then when I finally made it back home soaking wet.....they dry me off, bring me into the warm house, and GIVE ME A BATH! Are you kidding me....ok actually the bath was fun. Mom and I played in the water. Plus it seemed much easier this time since Dad wasn't video tapping the whole thing.

I had so much energy after my bath that I had to run around and get all my energy out....took about an hour and then I crashed. Slept like a baby.

Well hopefully it won't rain tonight.....if so, I'm hiding under the couch when it's time for my walk.

Monday

Weekend of February 24th - 25th

Boy did I have fun this weekend! I ran around the yard so Mom and Dad couldn't catch me. Went to Starbuck's and jumped on people. Held out for a whole block on walking (would have held out for more if mom didn't threaten to make me an entryway rug). Jumped on some nice older lady while walking. And basically ran a muck...who knew not listening to parents could be so much fun!

While running around the house and driving the parents crazy I think I overheard something...but I'm sure it's nothing...I thought I heard that a dog trainer was coming. But that can't be true, plus I'm just a cute little puppy. Not quite a dog yet...so I must be wrong. I'm sure it's just another friend coming to visit the cutest puppy ever. Plus if being a dog means that I have to be trained, I take back the last posting...I'm a PUPPY...not a dog...big mis-understanding....PUPPY!

Well I have to get back to making a mess...and tearing up my moose. I love tearing up my moose so that Mom has to fix it. She's had to sow it up twice already, plus the I busted the foot again this weekend. Woo Hoo!

Note from Mom: Logan has 3 identical moose toys so when he busts one up we can switch it out with another one. :-) For a dog toy, you would think they would be well made....oh well.

I am quickly becoming dog (versus a puppy). I am only getting up once per night now. I'm getting so much taller and stronger too. And my tricks are getting better. I sit on command (well except when other people are around - I get too excited). I am learning to fetch. And I love chasing Dad around the yard.

I also have a new leash. I still don't like walking but it's now only taking me 1/2 a block to get started instead of 2 blocks. Mom wishes that I would just walk on my own and stop laying down in the street, but I don't see why I can't just stay at home all day and play without going out for a walk. I consider myself a very stubborn dog when it comes to walking, but surprisingly Mom is not having any of it.

Well the weekend is almost here and Mom is planning on taking more updated pictures of me. I'll post them once she gets them downloaded.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm such a good puppy. I went to the door to go outside to the bathroom all by myself. I didn't go once inside. Look at me being such a good boy.

I am also learning a new trick...sitting. I sat on command twice yesterday. Mom and Dad were so happy. Who knew I could get such love by just sitting down.

Now if I can just get them to stop trying this walking thing.....

I hate going for walks. Why do I have to go. I have a new strategy now...lay down when they try to make me walk. I hate walking. I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!

Lots of people came to visit me today. It was great! I even got presents. Mom and Dad said it was because of this football game that was going on, but I know better...it was because of me! I mean really, if you had the choice to come and see a cute, adorable, loving puppy or watch a bunch of mid-western guys play football, which one would you choose?

I didn't realize how many Aunts and Uncles I had. And some like to spoil me too. Aunt Mel and Uncle Mike brought me a gift. I love it! I played with it all night. Then Aunt Jenny and Uncle Lars made me football bandanna to go around my neck. I can't wait to grow into it and wear it. I'm also glad that they made it dark blue. Mom said something about it being a good thing it wasn't 'that school up North' colors. (We aren't allowed to say the 'M' word in our house...even I know that and I'm only 8 1/2 weeks!)

Some people wanted to see my sisters too...not sure why when the cutest dog on the planet was right there. Didn't they see my beautiful eyes? My floppy ears? My wagging tail? Who wants to see dumb ole cats anyway.

After everyone came over to see me and went back home, we went for a walk. Mom and Dad tried to wear me down, but I had a lot of pent up energy. I stayed awake until midnight! For some reason I seemed to be the only one happy about staying up that late.

Well off to play with my new toys. Come back and see me soon people....Mom will bake for you.

Logan

P.S. A note from Mom...she said that I'm cute enough by myself to have people come visit me and that I don't need to bribe visitors with baked goods.

I had more visitors today. Aunt Susan and Aunt Carol came over to visit me. They were a lot of fun to play with. They also thought I was sooooo cute. And man I worked it so I could get petted. Mom kept making me stop chewing on them, but other than that it was so much fun having them visit.

After they left I went for another walk with Mom and Dad. All I have to say is thank God for treats or this would never work. However, I did walk further than I had before. Like I said...once I get started I'm good....but I don't like the getting started thing at all.

Logan - the walking dog (I guess)

January 31, 2007

I've grown! I now weigh 8 pounds 10 ounces (up from 6 pounds and 6 ounces on the 20th)! I went to see the vet today and they weighed me and gave me shots. They didn't really hurt, I barely noticed them. My sister Emily went to the vet with me. She wasn't as nice to the doctor as I was. She didn't cry when she got her shot, but it looked like it hurt so I cried for her. (Seriously, I made a whimper when she got stuck.)

I really like Dr. Steele, my doctor, she said I was cute and petted me a lot. I only have 2 more rounds of shots and then I can play with my friend Kata and other dogs at the dog park. I can't wait!

As for the walking thing....well I'm kind of getting use to it. I don't really want to do it at first, but once I get going I'm fine. Plus the bribes are helping a little. I even ran a little tonight when I was walking. I started chasing Dad, it was a lot of fun. And I'm surprised that Mom could keep up in those heels! I was so tired when I got back home that I went right to sleep.

Goodnight,
Logan

January 29, 2007

Today I was moved out to the garage. Mom and Dad moved my playpen to the garage for the day. They say that I'm an outside dog, but it's so much nicer in the nice, warm, toasty, house. I guess I have to get use to it sometime. After all, I am suppose to be a big 75 pound puppy when I'm all grown up. But I don't really see how that's possible when I'm so small now.

I still like chasing Mele and I would love to have more visitors too. It's so much fun when other people come over to play with me.

To revisit an earlier situation that was mentioned in prior postings...the walking. Mom is not giving up on making walk. She even has Dad trying to do it now. And they are bribing me to do it...holding a treat in front of me and only giving me part of the treat every once in a while. Why is walking such a big deal? Can't I just chase Mele all day and get my exercise?
